K & K Plumbing’s Rich History in the Perth Community
A local institution for the past 48 years, K & K Plumbing was established by Kevin Thayer who still works in the business today together with two of his sons Jai and Zane. As the son of a Plumber, Kevin was introduced to the tools of the trade from a very young age and always planned to follow in in Father’s footsteps with his chosen career. Growing up in the US, as a teenager, Kevin and his family made the move to Australia where they settled in Victoria and Kevin completed his education. After obtaining his plumbing qualifications, and working in Victoria for a few years, Kevin headed for WA’s sunny shores at the age of 25. Over the following years, Kevin gained invaluable experience working for a major Perth plumbing firm and soon rose to the position of Senior Plumber, during which time he was privileged to work on many notable Perth projects.
Longing to put more of his own stamp on his plumbing services and build trusted, long-term relationships with his customers, Kevin established K & K Plumbing in 1976 with just himself on the tools and his then wife Kaye taking care of the admin. Like their father before them, Jai and Zane showed an early interest in their Dad’s trade and loved nothing more than helping Kevin out with the odd job whilst finishing their educations. Following high school, both boys completed their plumbing apprenticeships and licencing with K & K Plumbing and have worked alongside Kevin in the business ever since. Originally established to provide domestic plumbing services around Mullaloo, K & K Plumbing is now one of Perth’s longest running plumbing companies and specialises in both domestic and commercial plumbing, regularly servicing large, high profile organisations right across Perth.
Now approaching retirement age, Kevin remains the heart and soul of K & K Plumbing and is still very active on the tools as well as juggling his role as Managing Director of the business. Working closely with Jai and Zane, he is an invaluable source of knowledge and experience and has well prepared his sons for when he eventually steps back from the business (which it seems may never happen!). Throughout our company’s history, Kevin has established a consistent culture of excellence with regard to both our workmanship as well as our service. As one of Perth’s longest running plumbing organisations, we’re proud to call ourselves Mullaloo’s favourite Plumbers and work hard to continually enhance the quality, reliability and value we’ve become renowned for.
